Rizal!

June 20, 2011 is a non-working holiday!

Friday, April 29, 2011

MANILA – President Benigno Aquino III declared June 20 as special non-working holiday for the celebration of the 150th birth anniversary of Philippine national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal.

Aquino signed Proclamation 154 last April 26, 2011.

“To give all Filipinos the opportunity to commemorate Rizal’s patriotic deeds and sacrifices for the country, rekindle their admiration and respect for him, and to celebrate this milestone with appropriate ceremonies, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) requested that Monday, June 20, 2011, be declared as special non-working holiday instead of June 19, 2011, which falls on a Sunday,” the proclamation read.

President Aquino earlier refused to follow Holiday Economics policy of former President and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, which moves holidays to the nearest Monday. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)

Masters of Science.....

Master of Science... Master of Science in Business Administration Major in HRM, Master of Business Administration Major in HRM, Master of Science in HRM.....What' s typically the difference between these degrees? Je ne comprends pas... Aside from the different classmates you would see every semester, professors who would inspire you to go to a higher degree and tons of workload... What is the difference? Can education have a same format for all... Cornell-Nanyang Institute of Hospiatlity Management- has Master of Management in Hospitality, Dela Salle Dasma - has Master of Science in Business Administration Major in HRM, SPU System has MBA-HRM and Le Cordon Bleu has Masters in International Hospitality Management and MBA - International Hotel and Restaurant Management. It just came into my thinking... Just like our adobo we have dry adobo, saucy adobo, white adobo with the use of salt not soy sauce... anyway... I therefore conclude that things may come in different packages, however appreciation is beyond measure.

The coolest places to visit this summer!

Take a break and go on a vacation?
Here are some of the coolest places to see and visit in our beautiful country:

Pagudpod
For the meantime forget Boracay, visit more places in the Philippines like Pagudpod. Pagudpod in the North. Yet to be a top tourist destination, Pagudpud remains a pristine paradise of graceful coconut trees, simple huts and a peaceful breeze. Shimmering white gold sand and sapphire waves stretch out endlessly, with remote coastal areas provide unforgettable diving experience.

Vigan
400 kilometers from Manila is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Vigan. With its old Spanish architecture throughout the center of the city, Vigan is the best-preserved example of a planned Spanish colonial town. The ancestral houses were built mostly by rich
Chinese traders with thick brick walls and plastered with red clay. The sturdy tile roofs are made to survive earthquakes. Walking around the town and seeing St. Paul's Cathedral, the Palacio de Arzobispado and the Burgos National Museum will definitely keep you breathless.

Camarines Sur
10-12 hours away from Manila is the Spanish-founded settlement of Camarines Sur. Its name comes from camaronchones or camarines, warehouse or barn in Spanish. Small nipa and bamboo huts are still used by the locals of the area. Now a favorite destination for vacations, visitors can enjoy wakeboarding at CamSur Watersports Complex, taste sinarapan, the smallest fish in the world in Buhi, or explore the miles of beaches, or see the awesome rock formations in the Caramoan Peninsula National Park.
After seeing the limestone islands, kayaking, collecting beautiful shells, hiking and spelunking, your trip home is sure to be filled with happy memories.

Tagaytay
The nearest getaway from Manila, Tagaytay is the ideal romantic vacation spot. With a breathtaking view from picnic spots overlooking Taal Lake. Couples can bond with an assortment of activities like horseback riding, golfing, or simply sightseeing. With the lush greenery and vibrant flowers, every moment is picture-perfect.

Baguio
The City of Pines and the Summer Capital of the Philippines, Baguio is everyone's favorite place to go to for a change of scenery, and the lovely cuddly weather. Popular spots like
Camp John Hay, Burnham Park, Session Road, Mines View Park, the Strawberry Fields are timeless.

Whether you're off to visit the breathtaking views of the North, or the cool places in the South, make sure to keep your journey fun, safe and trouble–free. And when you go hungry and want to get full even if you're on the road, drive-thru at McDonald's or visit any of the 24-hour stores. So anytime you feel like grabbing a Double Cheese Burger, munching on fries, or gulping a McDonald's float, you can!

Have a fun and memorable trip!
